Bronco Blog Preseason Week 3: Jamaal Charles makes his Orange and Blue Debut
With only a week until cuts have to be made on the rosters for all 32 teams to 53 men, players on the Broncos are competing for spots such as the left guard competition between Max Garcia and Allan Barbre. But as the Broncos dawned on their home Preseason opener against Green Bay, one player battled for a roster spot all camp, and he got the chance to prove himself. He just needed to change the color (and number) of his jersey.
Former Kansas City Chiefs running back, #28 Jamaal Charles.
Of course we already know who the Quarterback is going to be, but there isn't a good second string RB (besides Devontae Booker) to help the team beside the first stringer C.J. Anderson. Von Miller also made his Preseason debut and he did not disappoint; coming up with a sack for -11 yards.
As for Trevor Siemian, he did fairly well completing 13 of his 22 passes for 127 yards and only 1 interception. And Jamaal? Well he had the same magic playing at Mile High as he did at Chiefs Kingdom, averaging 5 yards per carry.
The defense didn't disappoint either as defensive lineman Shelby Harris who is also fighting for a roster spot, racked up three sacks. But rumors have went around saying that fellow "No Fly Zone" member T.J. Ward is on the trade block. Coach Vance Joseph didn't hear anything about the rumor according to a statement. No matter what happens, the Broncos have two second year players in Justin Simmons and Will Parks who are already famous among the "No Fly Zone" thanks to their late game heroics at the Superdome last season.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, go grab a pair of white cleats and do a 40 yard dash without stepping out of bounds, (if you do know what I'm talking about, you'll get the joke.
The Broncos look to make a preseason sweep when they host the Cardinals on Thursday.
